Fuel injection permits greater precision in metering an optimum air/fuel mixture than do carburettors. The benefits are increased power, better fuel economy, longer engine life and lower emissions. There are many types of injection systems on the market today compared to 20 years ago. The micro-processor technology advances are incredible and it would be impossible for me to cover them all. However the systems that are around today still use common components that have been used since the first systems appeared many years ago. If you look closely at your system, you will notice similarities with the Bosch systems even if your vehicle is equipped with another system. The differences will only be the components will look different, additional sensors may be fitted to more accurately control the system and the adjustment procedures may differ. Furthermore different methods may be used for calculating and delivering the precise amount of fuel & control spark timing required to optimize engine efficiency. There are some diagnostic charts on D, K & L Jetronic systems that may be of assistance to you. They are for BOSCH systems, however can easily be used for general diagnosis of any similar system. If used correctly they are a great starting point to diagnose a problem with the fuel injection system. I personally never used them as most specialists already know what to do, but they may be very useful to the novice.

This section of my site will progress very slowly as writing about Injection systems is a very long and complex subject. I only made this link available so I could get the diagnostic charts up and the schematics of the systems I already had.
