In this electronically contolled system, the fuel is injected intermittently into the intake manifold just in front of the intake valves. The air is measured through a vane type airflow sensor which contains a flap that is connected to a potentiometer. The more the flap is open (more air sucked past the flap), the greater the electrical signal sent to the ECU. As with all EFI systems any air leaks after the airflow meter will have lean mixture effects. The ignition timing is still controlled by the conventional distributor.
